CANCER DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE AND NEITHER SHOULD WE
by Naintara Singh (Associate Editor)
Anne Frank once said, “How wonderful it is that nobody need
wait a single moment before starting to improve the
world.”
I strongly believe that each one of us has a duty to this
world and the people in it, and nothing exempts us from this
duty. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death, and yet,
an estimated two-thirds of all cancers are preventable. This
is where we come in – it is OUR duty to encourage the
prevention, detection and treatment of cancer. Our support
goes miles in helping those diagnosed fight this battle with
courage.
Cancer is a disease that doesn’t discriminate. It can strike
anyone at any time, regardless of age, gender, race or social
status. If the disease doesn’t discriminate, then neither
should we in our support. I urge everyone to wholeheartedly
support foundations such as the Festival of Hope, as
ultimately they are the ones who can make a difference. We
must stand in solidarity with those suffering, and spread
awareness for the sake of our collective future as a part of
humanity.
